I grew up as a farmer’s daughter in rural Illinois and have always loved the wide open space, my Mom’s flowers and the big sky. Growing up and exploring in that environment was an inspiration to me.

As far back as I can remember, I have always loved to draw. I attended art school and graduated with an M.A. in Studio Art. I have over 25 years of experience in illustration and have taught watercolor and drawing.

A few years ago I moved from lush South Carolina to arid Arizona. That was a big change! Naturally, I am drawn to the southern vibe of hydrangeas, camellias, sweet tea and lots of green! Since relocating, I have discovered that there are flowers in the desert as well, beautiful sunsets and mountain views to paint.

I enjoy working in watercolor, oil and pencil. My favorite subjects are florals, gardens, landscapes, and people. I am moved by the beauty of God’s creation around me and I want to portray and communicate this to others. Beauty is in the detail, the way colors interact, the expression of line and the definition of a shape. I love the process of bringing it all together to make something beautiful. This endeavor, I hope will bring an awareness and appreciation to everyone of the lovelier things in our world.

“Whatever is…lovely…think about these things.” Philippians 4:8
